Patience  at least you can lay them down and adjust them unlike presfix. I get them as good as I can then leave them, and re-moisten later to make final adjustments, otherwise it is quite difficult if they are sliding all over the place

Not a Westdale is it? ......I covered a fully lined one in primer to respray it BR blue

A lot hinges on the varnish arriving tomorrow  I still have some misgivings about the front end, if I was doing it again I would take everything off and etch the window frames

Not a Westdale is it? ......I covered a fully lined one in primer to respray it BR blue 

now now just because i said blue was .....  ;D  no mines a bachmann brass effort . Cynric i must admit i had trouble enough just getting the whiskers to sit right they broke but i managed to float them back  together as you say alot of time and patience

I havent had any trouble with the whiskers. My method is;
Dunk 'em in water for a minute then remove them

Allow the glue to dissolve and run a brush round the edge of the decal allowing the bristles to slide between the transfer and backing - this breaks the surface

Place the transfer on the model and slide it off

With the lining you dont want it in the water too long or it floats of the backing and it is useless.
Having said all that im only 80% happy with the results, the contrast between the green and white is a killer and it shows every imperfection

A long day today (not helped by a temperature and a stinking cold)
Chassis awaiting a final spray on the buffer beam

Finally all the transfers are on, the final job for tonight is a bit of tweaking to hopefully sort out any wiggles. Then varnish on tomorrow morning and insert the glazing in the evening

Would I be right in assuming you mean  lot more work than the JLTRT MK1's rather than the Easybuild Mk1's ?

I'll add to the  quota....

Re the lining, would a lining pen be a better option than decals on such long thin lines? I tried decal lines once years ago and made a right hash of things* - used a draughtsman's bowpen instead and was very pleased with the results, although I had several practice tries first before attempting it on the model (the orange cantrail stripes on an old Lima Class 87)

*  I hasten to add that I'm not implying that you have done the same here, Guv!! The lining on these looks good to me.

Normally I would use a bow pen but there is no way I could line round the corners! But I agree it is a better option
